On The Job Training (OJT)
Upon the successful completion of 20 days in the Pre-Employment Training (PET) program at either the Port Moresby Technical College (Pom Tech) or Port Moresby Business College (Pom Bus), and those trainees who have attained 80% to 100% attendance as per the class attendance lists provided and recorded in the UYEP Management Information System (MIS), will be given priority to be placed in a 5 months On-the-Job Training (OJT) program with employer(s) in the National Capital District (NCD). UYEP will pay the trainees fortnightly stipends for the 5 months On-the-Job Training (OJT) period.
Stipends are processed through the UYEP Management Information System (MIS) based on attendance lists provided by respective employers and funds are electronically remitted into their bank accounts with Bank South Pacific (BSP). Upon successful completion of the On-the-Job Training (OJT), trainees will receive a competency-based certificate from the UYEP which specifies the types and levels of skills trainees will have attained during their 5 months of On-the-Job Training (OJT). Then it is basically up to the employer should it wish to employ the trainee either on part-time basis or permanently.
